e.e. cummings - Favourite poems and quotes

In your eyes there lies
a green Egyptian noise.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To be nobody but yourself
in a world which is
doing its best, day and night, to make
you like everybody else means
to fight the hardest battle which any
human being can fight;
and never stop fighting!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Me up at does
Me up at does
Out of the floor
quietly stare
a poisoned mouse

Still who alive
is asking What
have I done that
you wouldn't have

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a total stranger one black day
knocked living the hell out of me -
who found forgiveness hard because
my (as it happened) self he was
- but now that fiend and i are such
immortal friends the other's each
Grey's Anatomy - My Favourite Quotes
  • Responsibility, it really does suck. Unfortunately, once you get past the age of braces and training bras, it doesn't go away. It can't be avoided. Either someone makes us face it or we suffer the consequences. And still adulthood as its perks. I mean the shoes, the sex, the no parents anywhere telling you what to do. That's pretty damn good.
  • Secrets - whatever it is we're trying to hide; we're never ready for that moment when the truth gets naked. That's the problem with secrets - like misery, they love company. They pile up and up until they take over everything, until you don't have room for anything else, until you're so full of secrets you feel like you're going to burst!
  • Pain, it comes in all forms. The small twinge, a bit of soreness, the random pain that we live with everyday. Then there is the kind of pain you just can't ignore, a level of pain so great that it blocks out everything else, makes the rest of your world fade away until all we can think about is how much we hurt; how we manage our pain is up to us. We ride it out, embrace it, ignore it, and for some of us the best way to manage pain is to just push through it. The truth is you can't outrun it, and life always makes more!
  • Maybe we're not supposed to be happy. Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories. Admiring the struggle it takes simply to be human. Maybe we're thankful for the familiar things we know. And maybe we're thankful for the things we'll never know. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate.
  • Who gets to determine when the old ends and the new begins? It's not on the calender, it's not a birthday. It's not a new year, it's an event - big or small, something that changes us, ideally it gives us hope, a new way of living and looking at the world, letting go of old habits, old memories. What's important is that we never stop believing we can have a new beginning, but it's also important tot remember amid all the crap are a few things really worth holding onto.
  • The thing about plans is they don't take into account the unexpected, so when we're thrown a curve ball, we have to improvise. Of course, some of us are better than others at it. Some of us just have to move on to Plan B and make the best of it. And sometimes what we want is exactly what we need. But sometimes, sometimes what we need is a new plan.
  • We all remember teh bedtime stories of our childhoods; the shoe fits Cinderella, the frog turns into a Prince, Sleeping Beauty is awakened with a kiss. Once upon a time and then they lived happily ever after. Fairytales, the stuff of dreams. The problem is, fairytales don't come true. It's the other stories, the ones that begin with dark and stormy nights and end in the unspeakable. It's the nightmares that always seem to become reality. Reality is much stormier, much murkier, much scarier. Reality. It's so much more interesting than living happily ever after.
  • A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. Never leave that till tomorrow, he said, which you can do today. This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say. I don't know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I'd have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if your'e wrong? What if you're making a mistake you can't undo? The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can't pretend we hadn't been told. We've all heard the proverbs, heard the philosphers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to seize the day. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today's possibility under tomorrow's rug until we can't anymore. Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beat the hell out of never trying!
  • Maybe we like the pain. Maybe we're wired that way. Because without it, I don't know; maybe we just wouldn't feel real. What's that saying? Why do I keep hitting myself with a hammer? Because it feels good when I stop.
Victoria Frances
I have a couple of posters by Victoria Frances in my room, and they are absolutely beautiful. Trying to find posters of the following pictures as well... Wish I could draw like that!
Ayirathil Oruvan - Maalai Neram (Song Lyrics)
Maalai neram, mazhai thoorum kaalam
En jannal oram nirkiren...
